Main Character Energy... Or Supporting Actor?
Cheers to the 7th month of the year! I'm thankful for the past two weeks, and thankful to you all for your patience. I've quite enjoyed the time with my family <3
But routines are for a reason, so here's to the week ahead, and to keeping the goals we set for ourselves!
I apologize for not writing last week or yesterday. I enjoyed the 4th of July holiday too much with the family and didn't write. This past Friday was a family pool day, and yesterday.... well, that was yesterday 😅
To those of you who are reading this, thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to invest in this Testimony page.
The next post will be my personal testimony.
Before I can share others' testimony with their faith in Christ (with permission, of course), I would like to share mine, with God's Blessing.
Every single person will face trials and tribulations. We were created with free will to determine how we'll navigate the road ahead and with whom. Whether that's weathering the storm with a significant other, facing challenges, interlinking arms with family to brace for impact with a loved one or friend, we will all have to determine how we will handle the problems life presents us.
And for me. At the young age of 27.
That someone I lean on for support is God, first and foremost. For many reasons, but because I have faith.
Faith that Jesus Christ died on the cross for mine and everyone's sins. Faith in Jesus that then allows me to have a relationship with God. Faith that ensures my weary soul that God holds each tear I cry and always welcomes me with open arms. Even if I've strayed 100 times, I'll always be the one sheep he leaves the flock for. My Shepherd.
That's the same for you, too. He'll leave the flock for his stray sheep. He's reaching out to you.
Our Shepherd.
Our Lord and Savior.
So, as we continue to navigate the ever-changing world that's constantly intimidating, dreading, painful, soul-crushing, and heartbreaking, take a deep breath and breathe.
It's the first step, I promise.
Then: take your Bible, turn to a random page, use your pointer finger, and point to a verse you'll spend 5-30 minutes meditating on. Just repeat that verse. Over and over again. Even if you don't quite understand the words right away, the act of opening your heart to God's word is a beautiful step into building a relationship with God.
Something I'm slowly learning. But thankful that I have learned this step in my journey with Christ.
At the beginning of the year, I felt as if I was losing control over my life. I was left feeling that the career I was working so hard toward wasn't satisfying me. I wanted more. And enjoying the time being on set, I wanted to be the main character, the lead actress, with lines and a fancy chair.
But then I read a verse one morning during morning prayer. And my pastor at church spoke a message that felt like it was directed to me. It was on people living like main characters, and in reality, the main character is God, and the longest story in history is the Bible.
It's a story of God's constant love for His people and how He's used a countless number of people from a variety of backgrounds to proclaim the Good Word. That God is Good, and it's the blood of Jesus that saves. And the Bible gives accounts from numerous people of vastly different backgrounds, pedigrees, and education to share their own testimonies.
(If you don't believe me, go look into the different authors of the Bible. Treat it like the historical text it is, and transport your mind into early AD to truly dive into the mindset of the authors of the Good Word. I didn't even know until today about how many female authors there are in the Bible.)
The Bible also encourages us to share our testimonies today as a way to learn and grow, as we've heard stories from our elders before us about the goodness of God.
And so I realized...
This isn't my life, but the life God gave me to share His word. I'm just a supporting character sharing the main character's love and faith, wanting to hear "Well Done" at the end of my life from my Creator.
That may sound cliché, but it helped guide my life onto the path in which my soul is satisfied, not my fleshly desires.
And so I leave you all with this final verse:
"We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps." Proverbs 16:9 NLT
Until next time, friends!
Mo <3
