Who is Monique?

Blogging has always been a way for me to find information from someone else's perspective. I usually Google a question and a URL link would pop up to take me to a blog that 8 out of 10 times has the answer I was looking for. Or it is someone discussing their own personal experiences with the question I had originally searched. Either way, I have always read blogs, but never quite started my own...

This month I decided I would start blogging so I can freely express myself. Like I said in my intro post, I have always wanted to blog, but never really started. So, before I create any more posts providing my insight and knowledge/expertise as a mama, wife, and educator, and providing my healing and fitness journey details, I thought I should introduce myself a bit more.

My name is Monique. I usually have people address me by "Mo" but my old high school friends would call me "Momo". I am 25 years old and recently celebrated 4 years of marriage with the love of my life and soulmate. We have been happily together for 7 years, meeting in high school. We are parents to a beautiful little girl and are proud owners of our furry cat - Cleo. My marriage has been a rocking rollercoaster with so much trauma being brought into the marriage from my family life and his. We both really had to work to make sure we are happy and our daughter is happy. Can't wait to speak on my journey as a wife!

I graduated from my local University (everyone's a Lobo!) in 2020. I began teaching right after graduation. This upcoming school year, I will be teaching 9th and 11th grade Special Education English. At work, I am also the sponsor for the school's first-ever Black Student Union and am the Assistant Dance Coach with one of my best friends.

I have been on a fitness and healing journey since 2020, but I've had some major ups and downs that have me restarting and revamping up my healing and fitness journey. My biological father decided to try and reappear in my life. I battled undiagnosed Postpartum Depression (PPD) and anxiety, and I caught COVID twice as well as was constantly sick for months on end. I decided to reset myself and begin these journeys all over again, really taking the time to learn about myself, who I am, and what my purpose is in life. Really taking into consideration how precious life really is.

So, thank you for being a part of this amazing journey with me, and I'm excited to see how things go!

Signing off for now,
Mo <3
