10 Things to say GOODBYE to in 2023

Scrolling for mindless hours on TikTok, Twitter, and other social media apps has brought me to one conclusion as the year ends: many people, like myself, have thought that the year 2022 was not in fact our year and was rather shitty (pardon my language). We’re all thinking,  “Let’s just slowly close this chapter and tuck it away, never to be mentioned again.” Sounds like a great plan to me! If you don’t feel this way, and actually had a great year, well congradulations from the bottom of my heart! It makes me happy knowning that people did in fact have a good 2022. I, on the other hand (and maybe even others), were not so lucky.  I ended the year nearly 10 pounds havier than this time last year. I ended the year even less consistent in going to the gym and even posting less to my social media pages (some of y’all may think this is actually a positive, but I wanted to grow my pages this year by posting more authentically). I lacked in determination. I struggled this year with m...

Who is Monique?

Blogging has always been a way for me to find information from someone else's perspective. I usually Google a question and a URL link would pop up to take me to a blog that 8 out of 10 times has the answer I was looking for. Or it is someone discussing their own personal experiences with the question I had originally searched. Either way, I have always read blogs, but never quite started my own...     This month I decided I would start blogging so I can freely express myself. Like I said in my intro post, I have always wanted to blog, but never really started. So, before I create any more posts providing my insight and knowledge/expertise as a mama, wife, and educator, and providing my healing and fitness journey details, I thought I should introduce myself a bit more.      My name is Monique. I usually have people address me by "Mo" but my old high school friends would call me "Momo". I am 25 years old and recently celebrated 4 years of marr...

PearDeck. A Lifesaver Teaching Summer School!

Monday always brings about yawns and sad feelings as the weekend drifts off into the horizon and another work week begins. As a high school teacher, I usually have summers off (NOT PAID!) Well, this summer I decided to buckle my bootstraps and teach a summer school term. The second term began at the end of June and goes until July 21st. That means that today starts my 3rd week working with this group of students (at a different school site and teaching a different grade level than what I taught these past two years).       Let me tell you - working with teenagers isn't for the week. Before anyone tries to come out of the woodwork stating, "Well your job isn't a real job. You're just a babysitter that sits around all day. Teaching isn't hard at all." No, I do not sit on my behind all day long, no my job does not consist of me "babysitting" students all day. For summer school, I have to teach these kids topics they were supposed to learn for an en...
